Me and my dad booked a two-day trip with the Blue Makaira team in June 2019. Great team and great place to chase the big ladies. It was a real pleasure to fish and share experience with Capt Nuno and Mark. The team was as eager as we were to catch fishes (unlike many other charters I have tried). the results speak for themselves: five bites (incl. a double header) three releases (500/800/900 lbs). We had a very pleasurable 3 days last year with Mark, Nuno & Sean on Blue Makaira catching two magnificent blue marlin (850 & 750lb). Enjoyed so much we are already booked in for this year.

Having sport fished in other countries, it can be very tricky to find the right crew and boat and it can be very disappointing. In 2019, myself and 2 friends decided to fish in Madeira for Blue Marlin. After some research we found the Blue Makaira owned by Mark Rideout and captained by Nuno. What a find!! These guys are total professionals and go eout of their way to hook you up to the fish of a lifetime. We caught 2 Blue Marlins over 700 lbs and raised 2. So if you are considering Blue Marlin fishing in Madeira, look no further than the Blue Makaira. We have decided to return in 2020, guess who we are fishing with? I luckily grew up on salt water in RI. I've fished since I was little (5 or 6) - some 65 yrs.
I've been lucky to fish with some great captains and crews and well know the difference.
Nuno and Mark are special and extremely professional.
Yes, I caught (and released) a big marlin - my biggest so far - but their professionalism was paramount to my success.
I would fish with them anywhere.
